Squares Baby Boy Quilt: Bits of Progress
Five to ten minutes at a time, this quilt for Baby 6 (whom we can’t think of a name for yet!) is coming along. It’s true, I sew and stitch and build darling little blocks in 5-10 minute chunks of time. I just never get more time than that before my name is called, the toddler has found trouble, dinner needs cooking, my feet need to be put up, or some other normal interruption comes up.
Last night I finished up the adorable blocks of blue and green for the quilt.
A few months back, I spent days deciding on the colors, patterns, and fabric for this quilt. In the end, I chose the blue and green combo. It’s a combi I have enjoyed for a while, and with every block I finished, I felt so energized by the look of the colors and patterns together. They’re playful, classic, just wonderful. I am getting pretty darn excites to finish this up for Baby Boy.
Aren’t the clouds so playful?
So as I said, all the blocks are done. Now it is time for the sashing and building the rows, then the border, then assembling the quilt sandwich, basting, quilting, and binding! Whew, that actually feels and sounds like a long list of “to-finish” left. I am determined to finish it in 8 weeks or less!
Any quilters reading? I am not that experienced yet, so any tips and tricks you have, I will greatly appreciate you sharing!
Very fun! I love the colors and can’t wait to see the finished product 🙂
Great colors! 🙂
Such a cute quilt! I always think of quilts as looking old lady-ish, but yours are so fantastic.
Thanks, Mary!
I’ve been quilting for years (as much as I can as a mom, haha), but I’ve never done anything with sashing. My latest project was a quilt as you go Herringbone pattern a la Maureen Cracknell. She has a great tutorial. Now I’m working on a disappearing nine patch for my third daughter. It’s my fourth one and they all have turned out so different! I wish we could chat about quilts over some coffee.
And I love the blue and green theme!
I want to try a disappearing nine patch one day! It would be lovely to chat quilts. Do you have pics of your Herringbone quilt? Sounds so neat!
I haven’t uploaded the pictures yet but I’ll try to remember to share when I do!
