It’s Gift Idea Time!

|

November literally snuck up on me, and Fence and I have yet to sit down and plan out gift ideas for our kiddos. Each year we celebrate Saint Nicholas’ feast day (even more special now that he is one our boys’ patron saint!), have the kids choose names to gift something to each other, and give family gifts. We have a “Three Wisemen Gifts” tradition, and we also fill stockings. It’s such fun!

But the fun requires planning, so that we’re not left on December 24 scrambling to come up with a good gift idea for that one that slipped through the cracks (it’s happened. We managed with a gift certificate, but it wasn’t ideal).

I have some ideas to share right now, not many for teens yet, but those will come! Please share your ideas with me, too. I love a good “outside the box” gift.

Enjoy the ideas! And thank in advance for any buys you make through my affiliate links. It’s so helpful to me supporting my family.

Gifts for the Whole Family:
If you’re a parent, Godparent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or anyone else who would like to buy a gift for a family (think a group gift, it benefits everyone!), then I think the Catholic Family Crate is so fun. We ordered the first one, which came with lovely art for me to frame, pages for the kids to color while learning about Jonah, a simple craft, prayer guide, and a beautiful picture book. I can’t wait for the Advent and Christmas box to arrive any day. Guess what? There are a handful of Advent and Christmas boxes left, so order quickly if you want one as an early gift!

Games for the Family: (images are clickable)
Ticket to Ride is a favorite in our house. My kindergartner can even play, with some help.

I just found this, which looks like a fun version for younger players, too!

We haven’t played this yet, but good friends and family have. I think one or more of these might end up under our tree!

This game just looks like fun. Or madness. Or both. What can I say? It looks amusing.

Books:
For kids and adults who love Lego and the Sacraments:

For kids who love adventure, this series looks like a winner. It’s acclaimed to be filled with adventure and values. Great for ages 8-12. My boys will probably get these.

For teaching prayers to the younger kids, Kendra has a few variations on the theme for girls and boys. So darling!

For deepening faith in and with your children: (this is a great option if you try to include faith gifts, like we do with our Three Wisemen tradition)

A new holiday book for the family:

For the kids who love to build:

For playtime, for kids’ rooms, etc:
An adorable wooden nativity.

Saint Penants

Saint blocks (I love these! They’re so cute. We added them to the St. Nick gifts last year.)

For the tween, teen or any woman who likes or wants to start prayer and Bible journaling:

Stickers or stamps fromLook to Him Be Radiant

A journaling kit from Open Journey

Zipper pouch for storing journaling items.

For moms and daughters to journal together:

Love, Mom by Gina of Someday Saints

The journaling guide I put together, plus a zipper pouch for storing pens and goodies.

For the ladies, anything from the Blessed Is She shop. I’m loving this candle right now.

For teens, young adults, your sister, your brother, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your wife, your husband:

Great new music! These are albums I’m loving, and one I’m excited about for Advent (so not quite a Christmas gift, but a great choice for the season). images are clickable

Lauren Daigle’s new album

TobyMac’s new album

For King and Country’s new album

Matt Maher’s new Advent and Christmas album

Whew. Now I need to think of something clever for my husband and my teen (she’s already listened to all the music about a thousand times with me, because I love those albums so much). Ideas? I’d love to know what you’re thinking up for Christmas gifts!
